Good food choice for diet

It’s no secret that diet along with good food choices will reward you with healthy living. But the main component of that statement is the fact that the two together work much better than each on their own do. And actually, you may have already discovered that when you do cut back on your salt, sugar and fat intake that you start to feel a little better, but you’re really not getting into shape and dropping the pounds you expected to. That’s because your metabolism is fervently working without the added boost it would be getting if you were working out as well. And if you’re exercising, but not eating properly, you might notice that your energy level may still be somewhat lacking. That’s because you’re not getting the right nutrients to sustain an active lifestyle.

The key is to devise a workable plan for yourself that balances your diet which includes the right food choices and a satisfactory level of exercise to give you that healthy living result you’re after. But with so many different diets throwing themselves at us on a constant basis, how do you know which one is right for you? Well, to help you decipher this common dilemma and give you a break from the same old diet plans, let’s take a look at one of newest developments in the weight loss arena to give you a fresh, new option.

GI Diet

One of the hottest diets to enter the scene and that is rapidly growing in popularity across Europe is the Glycemic Impact (GI) Diet. This diet includes foods that will get you well on your way to healthy living. It incorporates food choices that are designed to work together to give you more energy while you lose weight. It’s also said to be great for stabilizing blood sugar so that you don’t experience those highs and lows that result from eating foods with a high sugar content. The strategy behind it is that it combines lean proteins and unrefined complex carbohydrates with healthy fats to speed up your metabolism as it slows down digestion to help you to feel fuller longer. Many of the food choices included in this diet are probably things you’re already eating and drinking :

• Grilled Chicken
• Fried noodle
• Roast Turkey
• Broiled Fish
• Beer
• Almonds
• Cheese
• Couscous
• Pita
• Eggs

The GI Diet is actually one that is so seemingly nutritious and delicious, you could easily incorporate these foods into your daily life, for the rest of your life and achieve that level of healthy living you desire. There’s a wide variation of tasty recipes that you could create just from the items on this list alone.

And don’t forget to exercise at least 3 times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes to help you achieve the best results. So now that you have some good information on this new plan, you can weigh the pros against the cons and decide whether or not you think this diet includes the kinds of food choices you enjoy and that will effectively work with you to attain a healthy lifestyle.

Abdominoplasty

You've definitely heard of the tummy tuck, or "abdominoplasty" as it's technically called. This is a simple plastic surgery procedure that removes excess fat and tissue from the ultimate trouble spot-the belly. The popularity of the tummy tuck is growing among retirement age folks, and the reasons are simple.

-You've got a lifetime of belly built up and you could do without it.

-For many folks, retirement is a time to start a new health routine, and this is also an excellent time for a tummy tuck.

-You've always wanted to lose the belly, and now you've got the time and money.

If you're nearing retirement, now is the time for an abdominoplasty. You can enjoy your retirement with the slim belly you've been wanting for so many years.

The Abdominoplasty Procedure

As far as plastic surgery procedures go, the tummy tuck is fairly simple. The doctor puts you under light anesthesia and makes small incisions around the belly. Next, they remove excess fat and tissue from your gut, and rearrange the tissue underneath to give you a firmer and more toned stomach. Finally, they sow you up and you're ready to start recovering.

The reason abdominoplasty is so effective is that it doesn't simply remove fat. It gets rid of skin and other tissue as well. This is why it's ideal for older folks. One of the problems with your stomach area as you get older is that it sags. All that skin and tissue builds up over the years and sits there. Abdominoplasty is the only way to get rid of this pesky abdominal fat.

Recovering From Your Tummy Tuck

Every year, plastic surgery procedures get more and more refined. Plastic surgery has never been safer than it is today. Abdominoplasty is considered a minor surgery, but you should expect to spend some time recovering. It takes older folks a bit longer to get fully recovered from operations, so you'll want to make sure you get plenty of rest.

For retirement-age patients, it is especially important to keep the body hydrated. If your scar tissue dries out too much, it may interfere with the natural healing process. This is the biggest risk for retirees, so talk to your doctor about it. They will tell you everything you need to know about recovering the right way.

Abdominoplasty and other plastic surgery procedures are becoming increasingly popular for older people, and because of this, plastic surgeons take extra cautions. During your consultation, you will be asked about your medical history and any conditions you currently suffer from. This will give the doctor a good idea of how to best perform the surgery, as well as ways to make the recovery as easy as possible.

There's never been a better time to get rid of that saggy belly fat. As plastic surgery options become cheaper, easier and safer, more and more older folks are getting that work they've always wanted done. If you'd like to get rid of that gut, get a free consultation with a plastic surgeon. You can be on your way to a flat belly that you can enjoy during your golden years!

Weight Loss or fat Loss ?

Some people used the term “weight loss” while others call it “fat loss” whilst many use the terms weight loss and fat loss interchangeably. Do they mean the same thing? To many people, they do mean the same thing. But the terms may be entirely different in meaning. You must know the difference if you want to lose weight or lose fat effectively and healthily.

When you step onto your bathroom scale every morning, what you will be reading from the scale is weight loss and not fat loss. Bath room scales are never accurate in determining fat loss.

Why? Because it measures your overall weight and not your body fat per se. If you weigh yourself in the morning before breakfast after your bowel movement, you will probably get your lowest reading of the day because your body is dehydrated through hours of non fluid replenishment when you were sleeping and after emptying your bowels, more water and wastes are flushed away so much so that you are you are lighter. After a night of sleep and not eating anything, your carbohydrate store is running low and therefore you are even lighter without the stored carbohydrate known as glycogen. What happened then? You just loss weight not loss fat! Your body fat is still there while the weight of other substances such as glycogen, wastes, water etc are depleted.

Now go weigh yourself again after dinner when you are fully replenished through meals and consumption of water and it may surprised you that you may probably weigh 2kg or more heavier and that is at least 4.4 pounds! You just gained weight and may even gained fat! Now you can see that it is such a misnomer when people think weight loss and fat loss are the same thing.

Why must you know the difference? Because for most of us, especially those who are on the fat side want to lose fat and not necessarily want to lose weight. Getting the drift?

Now for the more important part. Mere weight loss may cause you to lose muscle and in turn, make you gain body fat later. Yes, it is ironical. That is because the more muscle mass you have, the more you burn fat efficiently because muscle is an active tissue and it requires calories to function. Body fat just sit there doing nothing and thus do not burn calories on its own. So the less muscle mass you have, the less calories your body will burn. The fewer calories your body burn, the more calories ended up being stored as body fat! Therefore it is important to lose fat but not merely lose weight which may include the loss of muscle tissues.

How is it that a person may lose muscle on a weight loss program? Well for starters, we commonly hear about people going on this diet and that diet. Most diets demand a severe restriction of food or calorie intake. Your body will then signal to your mind that you are in a starvation mode and the body is designed to store fat for the impending famine and will use up your muscle for energy in your daily activities.

Some diets advocate a severe cut in carbohydrate. Carbohydrate is your body's first source of energy. When your body is depleted of carbohydrate, it turns to your protein (muscles) and body fat indiscriminately for energy. Now to make matters worse, because of the restricted carbohydrate consumed, there will be fewer carbohydrate calories to be used as energy calories and that again will signal the onset of starvation mode again. The vicious cycle of your body cannibalizing its own muscle is set in motion again. The same applies to people on slimming pills or salon fat loss programs.

So some people say ok, Chris, I see your point, so I will just do plenty of cardio exercises to lose weight. Another grave mistake. Have you ever wondered why marathon runners, those who run many kilometers often and are doing cardio exercises almost everyday are so skinny with no muscle tone? Because your body is a wonderful machine. It is designed to adapt. When you run or skip or swim long enough, it will say, look, I better get lighter so that I can take the stress better and improve the endurance. Guess what? Your muscles are heavier than fats and what will your body shed more when it wants to get lighter? Muscle or fat? Your body will shed both but more muscles than fats.

Anyway, why would you want to lose weight only to become a smaller you with the same body shape without any muscle tone? Why would you want to be on a weight loss program that eats your muscles and lower your fat burning rate so much so that when you are off the program, the fats come piling back on again?

Therefore, while you are on a lose weight program, you must also be on a build muscle program. That will mean a combination of correct dietary habit, cardio exercises and weightlifting exercises to maintain muscle preservation and a fat loss result.

From now on tell people you are on a fat loss program and not a weight loss program. That you are on a correct eating habit instead of just simply dieting.

With the distinction clearly in mind, you will then know how to lose fat effectively, preserve and grow your muscles and at the same time losing weight on your bathroom scale. That would be an ideal way to achieve your weight loss objective because you will lose body fat instead of muscle and mere body wastes.

Tips for achieve your goals

In order to lose weight successfully, you first have to realize that losing weight is a journey with a specific destination. Right now, you’re at the very beginning and about to take the first step towards changing your eating and lifestyle habits, so that you can have the body you really want.

Of course, this isn’t going to be easy – nothing worthwhile ever is. You should pat yourself on the back for making a commitment to yourself that you’re finally ready to do this. So many people can’t even make it this far. So, in a sense, you’re already ahead of the game.

Your goal should be to lose one or two pounds a week, if you lose more than that, great, but don’t push for it. You want to stay mentally focused, healthy and determined. If you push too hard, or try to force your body to lose big numbers, then you’ll eventually stress yourself out and hit a wall that may lead to failure.

I have some tips that you can use to create a successful weight loss plan:

1. Set a Reasonable Goal

Your first step should be to decide how much weight you want to lose. Get some 3x5 index cards and write one goal or positive statement down on each one. Start by writing down your ideal weight, this is your ultimate big goal.

Next, you want to set smaller goals for yourself. Write down a goal for losing five pounds, then ten pounds, twenty pounds, etc.

Write down some positive motivational statements about yourself.

“I love myself unconditionally”

“I’m a great person inside and outside”

“I’m going to smile and laugh today”

“I deserve this and I’m worth it”

Keep these cards where you’ll be able to look at them every day.

2. Eat Smaller Portions More Often

Growing up you were probably taught to eat three meals a day. You were also probably taught to clean your plate. While this schedule of eating meals is well-intentioned, the fact is that you are going to get hungry between breakfast and lunch, and between lunch and dinner.

Not only are you probably having a large portion for each meal, but you are also snacking on junk food in between. Unfortunately, this way of eating leads to a lot of weight gain. It’s been proven that if you eat several small meals during the day, you won’t get hungry between meals and when you do, it’s easier to snack on something that has less calories.

Plan to eat five small meals a day, instead of three, and see if that helps to curb your food cravings.

3. Keep a Food Journal

Just like a diary is a snippet of events that happen in your life, a food journal helps you to keep track of what you’re really putting into your mouth on a daily basis. You probably have a mental picture of what you normally eat, but when you see it in writing, you may be surprised at all the extra foods you’re eating without even thinking about it.

Write down what you ate, what time you ate it, and how you felt when you ate that particular food. Sometimes when we eat certain “comfort foods” we’re really trying to use food to fill up an emotional hole in our hearts.

Feelings of loneliness, boredom, stress, anger and low-self esteem are often triggers for food binging. Write it down and you can go back and evaluate it later.

4. Treat Yourself

When you reach one of your weight loss goals, go ahead and treat yourself to something special. The only catch is that your reward cannot be a food item. That’s right, you will not have a bowl of ice cream or a big slice of pizza.

You want to mentally get away from thinking of food as a reward or a security blanket. So, think of some other things that will put a smile on your face. Money is always a good reward. Maybe you can create a reward jar and pay yourself five dollars for every milestone achieved. You could go on a nice shopping spree after you’ve reached your final goal weight.

You could also buy yourself some fresh flowers, a nice pair of earrings, a new video game, a new tie, etc.

Another great idea is to make up your own reward coupon books.

I hope these tips are helpful and that you are successful in creating a healthier and happier new you.

Weight Loss with diet and workout videos

Diet and Weight Loss an be achieved when sticking to a clean diet and using some great workout videos, it's just that simple!

When you hear the words diet, workout or weight loss, what comes to mind? What if I asked you to conjure up the thought of health & workout videos? Would it be an absolute dread or your life long supreme challenge?

Well, those words should not bring any of those negative thoughts to mind - they simply should mean your living a healthy way of life. It is something that we all should look forward to. There are so many alternatives out there to keeping ourselves physically fit, heart healthy and mentally balanced. It is also important to know that no one is alone in their quest to find the right weight loss and workout regime that we can stick to and perform on a long term basis.

That is why I would like to discuss two very important steps in getting you to your goal or as I like to refer to it as my "happy place."

Different types of Exercise & A Low Fat, Clean Diet Plan.

Never ending fad diets are proven not to work well for the majority of people. You might read or hear of amazing results but they never tell you that they are usually short lived, leaving you back with the weight you have lost and then some. For those of you just starting out, I think the best suggestions I could give would be to begin with a Low Fat Diet, meaning keeping your fat intake to under 10-15 fat grams per meal. You will find that by doing this, your caloric intake should decrease or stay within the 1,000 to 1,800 calories per day.

- Never skip meals - especially breakfast. This is your most important meal of the day. Just as a vehicle cannot run without the proper fuel, neither can our bodies, as it is the most amazing machine known to man.

- You should break larger meals down to 4-6 smaller meals per day - eating them about 3 hours apart. When we keep fueling our bodies with high octane protein and complex carbs, you will experience a smooth ride throughout your busy day. In return, your metabolism will begin to burn higher and your insulin swings will diminish. No more extreme sugar cravings and temptations to stuff sugar laden, fat ridden foods into our mouths like donuts, candy bars and salty processed chips. And heaven forbid, PLEASE stay away from those fried foods and Super Sized Fast Food places! Here's a thought...When we don't plan our meals and shop accordingly, we set ourselves up for failure.

Another suggestion for even faster weight loss would be to eliminate sugar and all heavily processed foods from your diet. This at first might seem quite impossible to you. You might even ask...."Then what is left to eat in the world?"

My answer to you is in what I mentioned in my opening title to this article - Eat clean. This simply means to reset your thinking to eating all foods in their most natural form.

For instance, all fruit comes in nature's most perfect package - so do vegetables, legumes, whole grains and all varieties of beans. It was not until man stepped in and started stripping these great foods of their natural nutrients by adding preservatives and processing them for a longer shelf life and aesthetics, that we started our "Battle of the Bulge." It is the reason for the alarming statistics of childhood obesity and heart disease in America today.

This is really so simple...learn to enjoy and taste foods in their natural state. Do not drown a nice fresh salad in creamy processed bottled dressing. Opt for fresh lemon juice and a small amount of Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Virgin Coconut Oil. Mix in some fresh garlic, oregano, cracked pepper and sea salt to taste. Then see your taste buds come to life.

Same advice goes for preparing all your meals:

- When grocery shopping or dining out, make all your choices with your health in mind. Choose only lean meats and fish, keep a large variety of fresh veggies and salads in mind. Opt for whole grain dark breads and forget about the butter. For those of you who just can't live without their pasta, make the switch to whole grain brands, they still have lots of carbs but contain high protein.

- Try and stay away from alcoholic beverages. The sugar content is high and will turn to fat.

- Try and do all your eating before 7pm. Don't make your last meal a heavy one. Opt for some organic plain yogurt with a portion of fresh fruit. Call that your dessert.

My last suggestion to you:

Don't forget to drink a least 100oz. of water per day to keep your system fully hydrated. Please try and avoid all diet and processed sugary drinks.

Now, on to the 2nd Step - Exercise

Before you sign up for that monthly, high priced gym membership, read the next paragraph. Don't get me wrong, I belong to a family type gym myself, and actually use the facility as least 4 times per week, but that was not always the case with me. I had to mentally and physically work myself up to committing to a gym membership. Here is how I did it...

One of the best resources available today, is the vast variety of health and workout videos. They are an extremely versatile way of working out and achieving weight loss, using professional methods. No matter what your age or level of fitness...there is a workout video that will best suit your individual needs and type of lifestyle. There are literally hundreds of videos designed for stretching, toning, weight loss and fat burning. You can exercise in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Unlike a structured gym, with set hours and time sensitive classes, a video can be used at any hour of the day or night- they are also great when traveling. They are fun to watch and extremely motivating. They are designed with background music, which as we all know can be a powerful tool when it comes to exercise. The more upbeat the music, the higher your enthusiasm level will be. When it comes to stretching, Yoga or Pilates, a softer, more instrumental music background might pass the time away and make your workout seem effortless.

Another suggestion I have for your at home workout routine, would be to purchase the right tools to make your workout as productive as possible. Invest in a good exercise mat, stability ball, a set of hand weights ranging from 5, 10 and 12 pound weights should work just fine. As well as a set of resistance bands. You can invest in other props as you advance in your workouts and your strength levels increase. When adding these simple suggestions into your daily routine, it will make it easier to stick to a program you have basically custom designed for yourself. You will improve your health and energy level and move closer to your desired fitness goals.

Workout Routinity

The significance of workout routines in maximizing weight loss possibilities is endless. For as long as we can remember, health experts and nutritionists have since been commending the roles of these exercise routines to our system because not only can it regulate the healthy functioning of our hearts, more than anything else, exercise routines can also help us shed off unwanted fat and weight through its effect on the elimination of body fat. Aside from these, there is also a long list of benefits that can be reaped from the adherence to an exercise routine.

Some dieters might be a little hesitant to follow a weight loss routine that delves into exercise because they do not have much time to engage in such activities. Luckily, some exercise routines can already be done in the confines of your own home. One of these is the Emergency Workout System designed by Minna Lessig. This DVD-based exercise routine includes both aerobics and weight training as an effective weight loss program.

It is common knowledge that aerobic activity increases metabolism and fat burning, while weight training builds muscle mass which in turn increases the body’s potential to burn calories. In this light, it is already clear to us just how this workout routine is expected to optimize weight loss. But even with these benefits, there are also some sides to the use of this weight loss aid which we could not say is a good idea. For one, the website that advertises this product has very few testimonials. This could also mean that the product itself is not that credible in maximizing weight loss because if it is, the users of this product would have been eager to make their commentaries about how this weight loss aid changed their bodies. Of course, the other thing that we saw with this method is that it does not have the sufficient diet component that could really push for optimal weight loss.

Indeed, toning up is important and it is also a trend. There's nothing wrong with following trends but before you do, make sure that the means that you are trying to achieve that trend is really worth your while, otherwise, you are simply wasting your resources. For those people who want to lose weight, toning up would be hard to maintain because you have to shed off those fats first. This could be done through the use of a powerful weight loss supplement such as those that combine the properties of the succulent herb Hoodia Gordonii and the Bitter Orange derivative, Advantra-Z. We cannot discount the fact that using weight loss supplements might be irksome for some dieters. But Hoodia Gordonii and Advantra-Z is different from other weight loss formulas. Both are equipped to promote weight loss without unnecessarily creating health problems for dieters. Indeed, both are said to be free of side effects. When used together, the formulation that carries these ingredients is said to provide maximum weight loss like no other weight loss combination can.
